This congregation saw dramatic declines in its school enrollment in the 1990's as its community changed. When the school closed, many members feared the congregation would soon close also. But the church has responded to the challenge of its pastor to move from maintenance to mission and, in January 2007, opened an Open Arms Child Development Center as a means to serve its community and bring people the gospel of Jesus Christ. This site contains stories from May 2006, during planning, and May 2007, after the childcare center's opening.
May 2007 stories: "New Ministry Brings New Life" "A Change in Attitude" "Looking Ahead"
May 2006 stories: "From Maintenance to Mission" "Immanuel's Open Arms" "Immanuel Ablaze!" "A Mother's Perspective"
